Block Party is back and bringing the entire Mitten into the mix. Whether you solve the Saturday puzzle in pen or just pick up a crossword every now and then, this book has something for you.

80 crosswords of various sizes and difficulty levels are divided into five chapters: Southeast, Central + Western, Up North, The Upper Peninsula, and Across the Mitten for everywhere else. Michigan Edition covers the entire Wolverine State, from The Thumb to the tip of the UP, and features puzzles made by over a dozen talented constructors.
Our Story
Block Party is Emily Biegas and Sala Wanetick, two Detroit-based friends turned collaborators. We began solving crosswords as a way to escape our boring day jobs and soon became interested in constructing.

Our first puzzle was published in 2023 in the LA Times, and since then our crosswords have appeared in The New York Times, USA Today, AVCX, Apple News+, and more. After writing so many puzzles for national outlets, we started to crave an opportunity to feature niche clues and answers from our own community - stuff that we wouldn't be able to put into crosswords meant for the general population. What was supposed to be a DIY crossword zine quickly snowballed into our debut book, Block Party Detroit Edition: 40 Crosswords for Lovers of the 313, which has sold over 2,000 copies since its realease in November 2025.
